Junior Art at Emerson is a year-long program and is immersed in critical and creative thinking, self-expression and life-long learning skills. Students have the ability to develop fine motor skills through the use of multiple art tools, while working with project based art and step-by-step instruction. Students have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of materials, allowing learning to happen through discovery and exploration. Junior art students begin building confidence around using their imagination and learned artistic skills.
The Senior Art Program at Emerson is a thirteen week course where students have the opportunity to plan and create projects centred on personally chosen and developed themes using a variety of materials. Students work both collaboratively and independently making creative decisions about artistic problems resulting in greater self-esteem and confidence. While creating personal meaning through their own experiences, students at Emerson build a catalogue of artistic skills that enriches their everyday lives.
